Target’s military discount is only available to active-duty National Guard and Reserve members, soldiers, or family members of any of these groups. It’s important to remember that although the discount may seem like a senior deal because it targets veterans, eligibility depends on military service rather than age.

How Do Senior Citizens Apply for Target Discounts?

Seniors who want to apply for Target’s military-only discounts should visit their official website or use their app first. Create an account there, or sign in with an existing one.

You should select the “I’m a service member or dependent” option in the settings after logging in to enroll automatically in the Target Circle program for free. Verifying your military status is the only thing left to complete after that.

What Documentation Should Seniors Bring to Prove Their Age?

Target’s military discount is contingent solely on military status. You need the following information for the verification process:

  • Name of the service person,
  • Date of birth,
  • Veterans’ service termination date.

You are eligible for Target’s military discount once they confirm your active duty member or veteran identity. Not only that, but you can permanently add the verified status to your Target profile, which means you won’t have to go through the verification procedure again to continue receiving military and veteran discounts in the future.

Do Target’s Senior Discounts Have Any Restrictions or Exclusions?

According to the information provided on Target’s official website, certain items are not eligible for the military discount. These are a few of those things:

  • Almond milk,
  • Wine,
  • Facial masks,
  • Certain video game consoles and devices,
  • Some brands—such as Bose and Instant Pot—
  • Certain toys, like Disney Frozen Castle and LEGO.

Several possible explanations exist for these exclusions, ranging from the type of item to brand limitations. To avoid surprises at the register, ensure the selected item is eligible for the military discount before completing any transaction.
